CNS: Atlanta (Georgia) Medical Director

DR. BRIAN BORTNICK, Medical Director of CNS’ Atlanta site (Georgia), has experience in a variety of patient care settings, in addition to the nearly 50 clinical trials conducted across multiple psychiatric diseases. Dr. Bortnick has notable experience in studying primary insomnia, as well as mood (Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder), anxiety (General Anxiety Disorder), cognitive (Alzheimer’s Disease), and psychotic (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder) illnesses. Currently a board-certified psychiatrist maintaining licensure in Georgia, Dr. Bortnick complemented his early education in Psychology (Boston College) with medical training at the Medical College of Virginia. Subsequently, Dr. Bortnick received formal training in Psychiatry at Emory University (Chief Resident, Crisis Stabilization Unit, and Grady Hospital). While developing his clinical research expertise, Dr. Bortnick served in multiple care venues, including CIGNA/MCC Behavioral Care and Community Mental Health Services in Atlanta. Further balancing this experience, Dr. Bortnick has maintained a local private practice in Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry for over a decade. With his clinical research practice in Psychiatry, Dr. Bortnick has gained expertise in investigations across patient age (adult and elderly), trial design (open, blinded, acute therapy, relapse prevention, dose finding, efficacy augmentation) and special medical and psychiatric populations (treatment resistant, fibromyalgia, premature ejaculation).
