CNS: Park Ridge (Illinois) Medical Director

Medical Director of CNS: Park Ridge (Illinois), Principal Investigator Jeffrey Ross, M.D., leads a team of researchers in numerous outpatient trials, specializing in illnesses affecting the central nervous system. Dr. Ross Director of clearly personifies a dual dedication to both research and education, having conducted over 100 clinical trials and leading nearly as many lectures, training sessions, and public radio and television broadcasts. With investigative experience across multiple psychiatric diseases, including mood, anxiety, cognitive (Alzheimer’s, MCI), and substance abuse disorders, Dr. Ross’ depth and focus of research practice is notably synergistic to CNS’ established expertise in psychotic disorders.

As an instructor of medical students and psychiatry residents at Chicago-area institutions (Northwestern University Medical School, Rush Medical College, Evanston Hospital, Illinois College of Optometry) over the past 15 years, Dr. Ross has provided ongoing medical education in both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, equipping new physicians with important insights into the interviewing, care, and long-term management of patients with psychiatric illness.

Following his post-graduate fellowship in clinical psycho-pharmacology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Dr. Ross served as Medical Associate at Rush’s Treatment Research Center and Attending Psychiatrist at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, as well as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Rush Medical College. As a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Ross maintains licensure in Illinois, where he received both his biology/psychology (University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana) and medical (University of Illinois College of Medicine) degrees, and continues to maintain his affiliation with the aforementioned academic centers.

From his extensive research experience in Psychiatry, Dr. Ross has gained expertise in investigations across development phase (Phase 1 through 4), treatment setting (inpatient and outpatient), duration (short and long-term), trial design (open, blinded, acute therapy, relapse prevention), and intervention (psychotherapy
and psychopharmacology). Aside from numerous peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Ross has also developed a particular niche providing psychiatric educational book reviews (Doody’s Health Sciences) for over a decade.
