CNS: Cerritos (California) Medical Director |
DR. MORTEZA MARANDI, Medical Director of CNS’ Cerritos Site (California), has an extensive clinical background in training and research that is mutual to CNS’ dedication to a specialized research approach. Having conducted nearly 65 clinical trials across multiple psychiatric diseases, including mood (Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder), cognitive (Alzheimer’s Disease), and psychotic (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder) illnesses, Dr. Marandi’s expertise is well-established. Dr. Marandi also maintains notable Phase 1 experience in psychiatric populations, an important advantage considering the evolving regulatory and clinical requisites of early CNS development.
Following his studies at Shiraz University (Iran)for both undergraduate and medical degrees, Dr. Marandi trained at the University of Pennsylvania (General Psychiatry) and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (Fellowship-Child Psychiatry). Dr. Marandi also served as Staff Psychiatrist at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health as well as Medical Director of College Health IPA, the largest managed behavioral health group in Southern California. Dr. Marandi, a board certified psychiatrist, maintains licensure in California and holds admitting privileges at College Hospital in both Costa Mesa and Cerritos. From his extensive research experience in Psychiatry, Dr. Marandi has gained expertise in investigations across psychopharmacologic formulations (oral, transdermal, extended release, short and long-acting/depot intramuscular preparations), patient age (adult and elderly), patient setting (inpatient, outpatient, nursing home), trial design (open, blinded, acute therapy, relapse prevention, dose finding, efficacy augmentation) and special psychiatric populations (at-risk for suicide, treatment-resistant, negative symptoms, and primary insomnia). |
